the nature of learning and the functional architecture of the brain

by Randy Gallistel

the mind as
(i) a Turing Machine? (computational model)
(ii)a plastic brain? (neuroscience/connectionist model)

the nature of learning explicitly demands a read/write memoery of the mind, which can be well-explaned by the computational model; the neuroscience model is yet to provide us with an adequate account of how memory works.
